A municipal council focused on urban revitalization aimed to create a tranquil green space for residents to connect with nature, exercise, and participate in community activities.

Objective

To transform an underutilized city lot into a vibrant park that promotes wellness, environmental conservation, and social interaction.

Scope

  • Design a central park layout with walking trails, seating areas, and activity zones.

  • Integrate eco-friendly water features, native plantings, and art installations.

  • Include facilities for fitness, leisure, and community events.

Design Approach and Execution

Concept and Vision

Design Philosophy: Blend modern landscaping techniques with natural aesthetics to create a harmonious escape within the urban landscape.
Key Features: Winding walking paths, interactive water features, and a multi-functional amphitheater.
Inspirations: English-style natural parks combined with Japanese Zen garden principles.

Execution

  1. Phase 1: Site Assessment

    • Studied existing soil quality, drainage systems, and sunlight patterns to optimize plant selection.

    • Consulted with ecologists to ensure biodiversity and sustainable land use.

  2. Phase 2: Layout and Planning

    • Designed circular walking trails that guide visitors through themed garden sections, such as a butterfly garden, a meditation grove, and a community vegetable patch.

    • Strategically positioned seating areas with ergonomic benches shaded by native trees.

  3. Phase 3: Eco-Friendly Features

    • Installed a rainwater harvesting system to irrigate the park.

    • Developed a central pond with solar-powered fountains and natural filtration using aquatic plants.

    • Planted drought-resistant native flora to minimize water use while creating habitats for local wildlife.

  4. Phase 4: Collaboration and Construction

    • Partnered with local artists to design sculptures and interactive installations along the trails.

    • Engaged community volunteers in planting sessions to foster a sense of ownership.

Serenity Green Park is a gift to our city. It has not only transformed an idle space but has brought our community closer, offering a peaceful yet lively escape amidst the urban hustle.
